Wellington Psychological Associates was first established in 1982 with the aim of providing a high quality and comprehensive private clinical psychology service to the Wellington Community. This inner city practice of six very experienced, well regarded members of the clinical psychology profession strives to maintain the highest possible standards of practice that is anchored in evidence based assessment and treatment. All are Registered Clinical Psychologists, with Post Graduate qualifications, and members of the New Zealand College of Clinical Psychologist.  All have a depth of experience drawn from both the public and private sectors.

We are delighted to welcome Dr Mikaela Carter, Clinical Psychologist to our practice.  She will be available to see young people and adults from November and is currently accepting referrals.  She is skilled in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). She has a particular expertise in CBT for insomnia, and has a depth of experience in supporting people with chronic physical health conditions. We are very fortunate to have her at our practice three days a week.

If you have been seen before by one of our psychologists or have been referred directly by a specialist and wish to be seen please contact our receptionist Amelia on info@welpa.co.nz to enquire about making an appointment. If you have a general enquiry or are self referring, please email and we can advise on the availability of our individual clinicians.

The six Clinical Psychologists at Wellington Psychological Associates are registered under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 and members of the professional body of the New Zealand College of Clinical Psychologists. Ongoing education and professional development is a cornerstone of our practice.

Uniquely in the Wellington region, the skill mix and areas of expertise of our clinician's allows us to offer individual therapy for adults, but also assessment and treatment for children and older adolescents/young adults.  Online/telehealth appointments can be made by arrangement.
